Bio

Hello friends,
MrHarvey here,
Firstly I'd like to thank you for visiting my Unearthed page.
It means a lot to me.
Ok a bit about me.
I chose the name MrHarvey as I think it works in describing my music which ranges in styles from folk to rock to indie and lots of places in between.
Also P J Harvey is too close to my own initials of N J Harvey which I thought about too.
Born in Sydney I left home straight after school to live in London for 2 years and see the world.
It had a LOT to offer, so the Nathan that left Australia, a fit, surfie, footy head that loved bands such as Midnight Oil and The Hoodoo Gurus came back wildly different smoking cigarettes, listening to old school Metallica, Lenny Kravitz and Soul II Soul ; all quite new acts at the time!
This along with the fact that both of my parents are scousers from Liverpool in the UK has had an enormous impact on my musical and social influences.
My old man was literally born under an iron table during a Nazi bombing raid; my grandmother with only her 1 year old daughter for company cutting the cord and doing everything herself whilst my grandfather who was an anti aircraft gunner was trying to shoot them down.
Thus my family has come from the school of hard knocks with the accompanying crazy humour and musical tastes to boot.
I grew up listening to everything from Led Zeppelin, Queen, Janis Joplin, Elvis, The Moody Blues, ELO, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Blondie, Tom Waits, Elton John, Leonard Cohen, Johnny Cash, Jethro Tull, Fleetwood Mac and everything in between.
I proudly have many of those bands first release, first press vinyl in my record collection at home. Thanks Mum and Dad!
Which brings me to my music.
I used to be a drummer as a teenager and picked up a guitar as a New Years resolution in 2015.
During my years hosting Channel V, I developed a taste for live music after playing drums in the wildly successful Velvet Underpants ( 5 gigs) complete with pulsating red velvet underpants on the kick drum.
On guitar I was only intending to play covers well enough to mildly entertain my drunken friends.
That is until 2016 came along and I decided to start writing my own material.
I've been vomiting songs ever since.
So far to date I've written over 30 songs ranging in styles and content but many of them reflect my own beliefs and values..
I'm a cancer / pig that loves to indulge and I'm a huge believer in social justice, empathy, love and freedom.
In contrast to that I'm massively anti over regulation, environmental rape and bureaucratic bungling.
So I hope what you get from my music is an honest reflection of myself, my beliefs and my experiences.
Sometimes joyous, sometimes painfully sad and stark, and often politically incorrect.
I've truly had an amazing life and I've been blessed with my incredible friends and family all the way.
I'm a prospector of life, always searching for new gems, experiences and ways to share my thoughts and dreams!
Thus introducing MrHarvey.
I hope you enjoy the ride as much as I am and if you do please spread the word.
Much love,
Nathan :)
