Bio

Murray Darling//Mid Twenties//Binge Drinker//Overweight//Underachiever

Formed in 2017, Murray Darling is singer/songwriter and self-confessed underachiever Bj Smith, rounded out live by the Murray Darling Band who are poised to release their first single in early February - Leave Me This Way.

Murray Darling has spent the last year smashing out local shows with some of Sydney’s best up and coming bands and turning heads with his unique brand of garage punk rock. His earlier demos have received airplay on Sydney’s FBI Radio with both the demo of the track ‘Drunk Again’ and B Side ‘Sick Boy’ receiving airplay.

Leave Me This Way is the first official release for the Sydney garage punk who draws musical influence from classic Australian artists and culture. Obsessed with Australia’s rivers, basins and this country’s beautiful landscape, Leave Me This Way is drenched in Australiana from strike of the first guitar chord.

Leave Me This Way/Sick Boy was recorded by Russell (Rusty) Pilling at Damien Gerard studios who has worked with bands such as: Sunscreen, Bland and Big White. This song is for lovers of bands like Bad Dreems, Scott and Charlene's Wedding and West Thebarton.

This is like hopping into your one mate's first car again. It's a beat up bomb, empty plastic bottles and burger wrappers strewn about the place and clutch is worn out. But those rough imperfections are intoxicating and it feels like home. Taking this track from MD for a hoon, brb.
