Bio

My Shadow and I are a four-piece original punk-rock band, from Mandurah, WA. Influenced by Blink 182, Strung Out and Story of the Year – the band focuses on writing super-catchy, loud guitar-driven melodies to accompany their high-energy performances.

Forming in early 2018, their lyrics explore modern Australian blue-collar life and overcoming mental illness.

The first two releases “Drugs” and “Secrets” were recorded and produced by MSAI front man Jarrad Wheildon. The boys were nominated for the WAM Song of the year in the Punk/Hardcore for their first release 'Drugs'.

My Shadow and I have spent the majority of lock down tucked away at The John Butler Studio, producing tracks for their upcoming EP which is due to drop in early 2021.

JUSTIFY is the first rocking single off the record and the heavy punk rock track gives audiences a glimpse into the the sound that the boys have been working tirelessly to perfect. The release was accompanied by a fun and energetic video clip - filmed by the band. They really are a DIY outfit.

You really gain some g-force from the start of the track and it really lands heavy on those opening drums. The space between the verse and the chorus where you squeezed in those epic kick drums builds so much anticipation in a tiny fraction of time. I appreciate that you've stuck the track in 6th gear the whole way through.
