Bio

2018 finalist in triple j’s Unearthed High competition Nancie Schipper has announced her new single ‘When You Get Home’ and single launch shows in Melbourne and hometown Warrnambool. ‘When You Get Home’ was recorded and produced by John Castle (Vance Joy, Thelma Plum, Angie McMahon). It is the first single following ‘Long Fall’, which was added to spot rotation on triple j and shortlisted her as one of 6 finalists chosen from more than 1000 high school acts in triple j’s Unearthed High competition.

On the single, Nancie says, “this song is about checking in on all your friends and not letting them deal with things alone. A friend had asked me to send her a text when I got home safe and it got me thinking about how powerful friendship has been in my life and how much I value it. We all want our friends to succeed and would do anything to help them, so it can be hard to watch them go through hard times.”

In bittersweet news, the headline show at The Loft in Warrnambool on Friday June 7th will be one of the last shows at the venue. Nancie will also be playing her first band show in Melbourne at the Wesley Anne on Friday June 21st. Tickets for both shows are on sale now.

Hailing from Warrnambool in regional Victoria, Nancie picked up the guitar and started writing songs from an early age. At only 19 years old, she brings a confident live show – honed from over 6 years of tirelessly performing on stages, cutting her teeth at pub gigs while being too young to buy a drink at the bar. Around the time of her high school final exams, she supported the likes of Ball Park Music, Jack River, Tia Gostelow and Gretta Ray. She has also performed at triple j’s Live At The Steps 2017, St Kilda Festival and Queenscliff Music Festival.

“Now in her final year of school, Nancie's making music that is assured and super warm. It feels like just the start of huge things for her”. Dave Ruby Howe

“From the writing to the production and performance, this exudes nothing but confidence. More songs like this, you'll have a career before you know it.” Richard Kingsmill

She earned a finalist spot in 2018's Unearthed High and now she's out here earning a spot on your favourite playlist. Bristling with energy from the electric guitars and Nancie's vocals.
