Bio
Nantes (pronounce how you will) is a 4 piece band from the North West area of Sydney. Formed late 2010. Our plan/aim is to make music we enjoy. Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/nantesmusic
Nantes are a Sydney 4-piece that are currently putting the final touches on their debut self-titled EP. 'Fly' is the very promising first single. Check it out!
Tell us about your music - how did you develop your sound?
Our ‘sound’ is developed by what we listen to, what we find exciting, and what we would like to hear. We draw from a variety of different bands/genres, some obvious and some much more discreet. We are still developing our ‘sound’.
How long have you guys been playing live and what should the audience expect?
As Nantes we have so far played one show. We don’t know what to expect.
The Nantes band-members have performed in backing bands for the likes of Jonathan Boulet and Grace Woodroofe. Has this had an effect on your own approach to song-writing and performance?
Definitely, experience is everything. Through playing with Grace and Jono we have been exposed to a lot of incredible musicians, writers and producers, and we’ve had the opportunity to play all sorts of different types of shows large and small, which makes things a little easier playing as Nantes.
Tell us about the bands, producers and people in the Sydney music community that inspire you.
There are too many, Sydney has such a large community of very talented and inspiring musicians/bands/writers/producers etc. It would be too hard to say a few and miss the rest.
What’s coming up in 2011?
2011 should see our Ep released and hopefully a lot of shows.
Australian music is?
...going to take over the world.

Really great first taster of this band... sure that piano is totally ripping off "All My Friends" but it gives the song a nice driving quality. Sweet sounds and catchy pop. Looking forward to hearing more.

Very UK inspired - with some chanty Brooklyn folk singing thrown on top. It hits the mark for me.
