Simon Lam

Bio

"With poignant vocals laid over hauntingly mesmeric piano or guitar, each track is deeply contemplative, offering narcotized instructions about how to break free from the past." - The Fader

"For most good artists, there’s is a deliberate decision behind each aspect of a song, poem, painting, etc. And with a name like Nearly Oratorio, you can probably guess that Lam isn’t making empty aesthetic choices." - Stereogum

"Nearly Oratorio is doing something unexpected with “Tin”, which is why Lam deserves all of the praise he receives." - Earmilk

"With more and more listens, it becomes increasingly clear that Tin shouldn’t be pigeon-holed as melancholy, becoming much more of an emotional experience as a result of the level of intimacy with his audience that Lam has achieved." - Howl and Echoes

I imagine myself hiking through a Japanese forest and watching it come alive. The layered vocals are so lush and serene, then it's dotted with bird-like flutes, animalistic wails, clicks and whispers that make it feel like a still space teeming with life. What an interesting thing.
