The year is 2008, beats have become electronic and music has become a visual art form. But the greasy workshop of Sydney’s New Dynamites has produced a raw, vibrant sound stripped back to the classic formula of a tasty bass line, slick and chunky guitars and some thigh wackin' back beat. Heavily influenced by New Wave, reggae and blues sounds, the band takes you on a “Zappa-esque”, odd ball journey but never leaves a stomping beat far behind. Green’s vocals hark to blues & soul origins whilst paying tribute to the ethereal qualities of Patti Smith and the waxing of Tom Waits style poems. The line-up brings together some of the best from the Sydney Jazz and Funk scene; Jess Green – guitar/vocals (The Green Septet, Bamako 3), Tim Curnick – Bass (The Van, ABC’s Sideshow, The Hands) , Arne Hanna – guitar/vocals (Jackie Orsascky, Big Wheel) and James Hauptmann – drums (Blue Juice, Steve Hunter). What results is a hard driving, rock-your-socks-off show with plenty for the ears to devour. ...
