Bio
Perth-based 'polished scungers' Rag n' Bone have adopted a new moniker to carry them into their next phase. The move has been brought on by the rise of UK star Rag and Bone Man, resulting in a murder of misdirected Facebook messages, baffling playlist additions and undue congratulations from elderly relatives after viewing The Graham Norton Show. To this, the band says “NO MORE”!
Some great memories came from the time with the former name. The last couple of years saw the band release their debut album A Handful Of Ash, play festivals such as Falls, SOTA and City Limits and shows with Stiff Little Fingers, Future Of The Left, WAAX, Jen Cloher and Gold Class, to name a few.
To usher in the next phase, NEW TALK has released a new single ‘Red Tuesday’. Inspired by a devastating bush fire that ravaged through South Gippsland in Victoria at the turn of the 20th century. Recorded by frequent collaborator Dave Parkin, Red Tuesday is a powerful statement on the importance of place and family remembrance, oscillating between vast space and massive distortion and anchored by Kiera Owen's ever-powerful lead vocal.
NEW TALK is not a new band. The personnel and ethos remain the same, it's simply a name change. The band will play their first show as NEW TALK on Saturday, April 21 at The Bird, with special guests Em Burrows & Web Rumors, Teen Angst and Physical Release.

Perth quartet Rag N' Bone refer to themselves as "polished scunge" and describe their sound as "an angel meeting up with a drunken choir, vomiting diminished scales over battle drums". They really make us feel uneasy, and we love it.

it's a grandiose affair with a big takeoff and a cruising but swirling altitude that makes you dizzy in a great way.

New name, same punch - you're one of my fave Perth bands for good reason. Masters of negative space, sonic push-pulls, vocals that keep you hanging on every word.
