Bio

Following their debut EP 'Differentiate', Novocation have been hard at work on refining their
sound, delivery, approaches to songwriting and production. The group consists of three members, each providing their own unique style and influence on the band as a whole.

Samson is the purest MC of the group, consistently delivering honest and introspective verses with a distinctly passionate delivery and flow. As a lover of wordplay and symbolism, Samson provides each Novocation track with poetic sensibility, all expressed through intricately woven cadences and flows. Samson also has a strong and distinct singing voice at his disposal that is used to add variety to his vocal contributions.

Jack Webster is a tight, quick fire rapper who also contributes to Novocation's harder hitting beats and sampled instrumentals. Webster's verses ooze confidence and paint vivid images that explore themes of growth and self reflection. His flow is impeccably smooth, catchy and Jack's voice injects each Novocation track with a sense simultaneously honest and braggadocios energy.

Keats operates as Novocation's primary singer, tackling most of the hooks and choruses on the songs. His approach to production and songwriting give the tracks a sense of cohesion and structure. Keats' playful rap verses, as well as the occasional use of stylistic autotune/pitch shifting add contrast and variety to the vocal content on the songs. He also functions as Novocation's mixing and mastering engineer.

Their latest single 'Too Long' is available on Triple J Unearthed. It's an emotionally vulnerable and introspective love song about loss, growth and moving on. Production wise, the track is melancholy and nostalgic, yet has a groovy 4 on the floor drum loop that adds drive and punch.

Novocation are in the process of finishing their mixtape titled 'Suburbia', which is a love letter to the environment in which the three artists grew up in. The tape explores themes of growth, self-doubt, love, authenticity and change. 'Suburbia' will be out later this year.

A million points for originality and creativity. I'm a sucker for rhodes they are my life, not sure about those cadences though they are not really anything crazy. It's a very safe rap flow IMHO. Same goes for the second rapper "no one to be alone with" is smuggled into the rap and takes the focus away from the flow.

Great mix of vocals and great build up to kick the song off. Funky upbeat tune, something a bit different then the other tracks from Novocation - love the variety and different layers to this band!
