Bio

Oh White Mare had its humble beginnings over lunches at a restaurant in Perth, Western Australia, with the kindred musical spirits & ol’ pals cutting their teeth up in Aussie music legend Snowy Fleet’s attic - fine tuning the beat-based, west coast indie rock sound they’re becoming known for.

When OWM came down from the attic, the band debuted in dive bars and venues around Perth, and from these beginnings came the release of their debut self-titled EP in late 2013. Both the record and exciting live performances received strong reviews, with the band kicking on to release the introspective single ‘All Right’ in 2015.

As the OWM sound blended and evolved, evoking the like of artists such as Josh Homme and Alex Turner - the band wasted no time putting out the stompin' single 'Outsiders' in 2016, which represented the pathway forward for the three-piece, towards a brand new EP entitled ‘All The Modern Lovers’.

Having been integral to the OWM sound since the beginning, Andy Lawson of Perth’s famed Debaser Studios, again took on engineering/mixing duties for the four-track offering. Lead single and opening track ‘Throw Me A Line’ immediately sets off on a soaring string hook. With lyrical content pleading ironic desperation, the propulsive groove and rolling dynamic defines the OWM aesthetic. The title track feels like the band has just stumbled out of the desert, featuring after hours vocals, and hooks oozing that mysterious west coast vibe.

To be released in April 2017, these tunes are set to make a splash on the airwaves with the band hitting the stages over the coming months in support.

OWM has received support from multiple sources around Australia, including Triple J Unearthed Radio, FBi, 96fm and RTR FM. The most recent single 'Outsiders' particularly made an impact on the international stage, including being spun on LA's iconic KROQ by legendary DJ Rodney Bingenheimer, as well as stations / podcasts across US & UK/Europe.

“Both lead and back up vocalists had an amazing set of pipes...Oh White Mare are certainly ones to keep an eye on as their music and thoroughly enjoyable live performance progress even further.” – Xpress Magazine

"There is a thematic linkage between each of the tracks on 'All The Modern Lovers', but Ross is right in saying that they all possess a different energy from one another – which is part of what makes this release so enjoyable. There are some truly infectious hooks on display here, a moody midnight dirtiness, and an ironic element married to a distinctly West Coast vibe which serves to set the release apart" - Speaker TV
