Bio

A four piece, all-female psychedelic rock outfit from the NSW Northern Rivers comprised of Gemma Owens (vocalist/guitar), Emily-Grace Lawlor (bassist/vocalist), Daniella Cassimatis (drums) and Tanisha Cook (vocals/keys/guitar). First impressions reveal a sound drawing from a broad pallet, most obviously 50’s surf rock, Middle Eastern psychedelic and garage classics from across the eras. What the Oogars really shine at however, is their ability to tie their instrumental pastiche with dynamic, yet heartfelt vocals – dreamy at times, in-your-face and confronting at others.

With just two singles under their belts since forming in 2018, The Oogars have performed extensively across Australia and Europe, gaining widespread recognition for their energetic and captivating live shows. Working around their recent tours with The Babe Rainboe, Nice Biscuit and recently King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, the group is finally ready to unveil their debut EP, 'Waiting All Day' (June 4th, 2021).

Love the woozy balladry of this one, sun drenched and conversational, a delight.

i'm strolling through a field of sunflowers and it's not that i don't have a care in the world, it's just that the oogars make it all feel better. love your throwback energy, it feels legit and moreish.

Big gypsy heart eyes for this track! Rolling in tone and style and gives me big Grace Slick vibes.
