// The twenty year olds Edvard Hakansson and Gilbert Hulme that formed Melbourne band Osaka, weren’t even born when the golden era of indie rock began… though they still miss it.

In the words of Rolling Stone, the band’s debut single, ‘Vessel’, was “bookended by two essential attributes… catchy-as-hell and youthful attitude to spare.” It’s with encouragement like this that the band hopes to revive the glory days, the days when the live band had hype and clubs were for sweaty underground gigs. Frontman Edvard Hakansson explains…

“We really want to bring back that magic that indie bands brought us when we saw them up on stage. It’s important to us to make the people watching feel something.”

Quoting influences of The Strokes, Phoenix and The Killers, Osaka bring their own brand of indie rock only updated for the electronic era. Blending driving guitars with programmed synths and Hakansson’s intimate yet oblique lyrics, Osaka’s post-indie sound knows where it’s come from but is doing something different.

Osaka hope to allow the listener to feel both that spark and driving energy of something new and something you’ve been missing.

Perfect for that late night, hazy, indie dance floor.

Niiiiiiice guys, big step up in sound from your previous upload. Again hearing those Foals/Northeast vibes and they are two of my FAVE bands so total compliment there. Diggin'.

Nice bassline build, definitely hear that Foals influence. Good melodies too.
