Men of leisure. Gold chains thin. Espresso thick.
Otiuh, a spin on the Latin phrase "otium" for leisure time, is Perth rap duo Cesare Papa and Jahmeil Baker. The two childhood friends deliver fierce flows over quirky and vibrant instrumentation, offering something fresh to Western Australia's blossoming hip-hop space.
The duo have released a string of singles through the second half of 2020 and 2021 that have earned them national radio play on Triple J's Home & Hosed, MTV adds as well as multitudes of love on hometown community broadcaster RTRFM. The recent singles 'Sundown' and 'Mamma Always Told Me' capture their sonic diversity as a genre-shifting act as they grow and evolve;
an evolution also evident in earlier releases and constant collaborations with local contemporaries such as Adrian Dzvuke, Mali Jo$e and Hyclass. 2021 will see the act launch their third EP in the latter half of the year.
Following a string of impassioned and dynamic live shows with their three-piece band including a sold-out headline performances at beloved venue The Bird and the annual WAMFest celebration, Otiuh were recently nominated for WAM's Hip Hop Act 2021. This year will continue to see Otiuh do what they do best, searching for the next sounds in hip-hop and making it their own.
