Bio

The Outdoor Type return with ‘Dirty Water’, their fresh slice of Australiana guitar-pop.
Released worldwide on September 7th through Nettwerk Music.

It’s been a huge 12 months for The Outdoor Type, from breaking the top 40 Triple-A charts
in the U.S and playing their first international shows, to sharing the stage with the likes of
Vance Joy and Portugal. the Man. After signing with Paradigm booking agency for North
America, the band turned its attention to recording their debut album with producer John
Castle (Josh Pyke, Vance Joy, Cub Sport). Recently releasing a succession of singles with
Middle of the Road and Don’t be Fooled by Me, the band has garnered praise from local
radio and fast developed a presence in the Australian music scene.

With a debut album ready for release and burgeoning international presence, 2018 is
shaping up to be the year for The Outdoor Type.

‘Sonically, I think we were chasing that widescreen, cinematic sound of home. You know
when you flick on gold FM and Icehouse or Australian Crawl are belting out one of their
‘evergreens’, there is a distinct sound there. It’s probably just nostalgia, I’m not sure, but it’s
a sound we’ve gravitated towards,’ explains frontman Zack Buchanan. ‘Lyrically the song is a
rumination on the current state of things, the micro and macro.’

To promote the release of ‘Dirty Water’ The Outdoor Type will be embarking on a regional
tour.

Friday, 5 October - The Eastern, Ballarat
Saturday, 6 October - Workers Club, Melbourne
Friday, 12 October: - The Milk Factory, Brisbane
Saturday, 13 October - Frankie's, Sydney
Friday, 19 October - Bridge Hotel, Castlemaine
Saturday, 20 October - Patchewollock Music Festival

Vocals), Claire Cross (Bass, Vocals), Kieran Ebert (Guitar, Vocals), Owen Luby (Drums,
Vocals), Liam Werrett (Saxophone) and Holly Thomas (Drums).

i've never felt totally comfortable wearing an akubra cos i'm a city boi but i think i could rock it with confidence with this outback calling.

There's probably a perfect reference for this perfectly made '80s working class pop noir sound but stuffed if I know what it is. What I do know is that this sounds so so good.

There's something a little early 90s about this new one, a slight twist on what we've heard from previous Outdoor Type tracks. As usual though, very good.
