Meeting in the small, close-knit music community of Perth, Western Australia, Paper Plains is a quartet of friends merging an array of musical influences and experiences in order to create a type of alt-rock which communicates a variety of contemplative lyrical themes, so joining their local peers with a DIY ethic and willingness to punch above their weight. From humble roots as the acoustic brainchild of duo Matt and Pat, Paper Plains has expanded both musically and in membership with drummer Dave and bassist Jess joining the fold midway through 2013, bringing with them an eclectic taste in music ranging from the technical prog-rock of Dream Theater and ear blistering post-punk of Hot Water Music, through to straight up pop of The Veronicas.
