Artist:Pensive Penguin

Drawing influences from Augie March, The Shins and The Kinks, Pensive Penguin are an indie rock/pop outfit based in Melbourne with a penchant for penning quirky, lyrical tunes with jangling pop accents and raucous, brooding undertones. Hatched in Brisbane in January 2010, Pensive Penguin recorded and launched their debut EP, Life Was Given to the Birds, with Melbourne-based ex-EMI producer / engineer Tony Salter. The group swiftly garnered attention and praise for their energetic liveshow and catchy, up-beat tunes. Founding member, Denis Hamilton, then opted for a change, and migrated to the cooler climes of Melbourne, where perhaps the Pensive Penguin story might have ended, had not long-time stalwarts of the Melbourne scene Autumn Gray concluded their own musical journey shortly thereafter.
