Aussie indie rockers, Peoples Palace, founded in 2007 by lead vocalist Taylor Stevenson with his brother Nathan (Drums), cousin Blake (Lead guitar) and best mate Billy (Bass Guitar) formed as Altitude in their early years and after supporting some of Australia’s biggest artists including Kate Ceberano, The Choirboys & Bluejuice as well as headlining the national teenage fashion awards at fox studios in Sydney, the boys decided a change was needed in 2012, reforming and releasing their first, self-titled EP as Peoples Palace
Peoples Palace burst onto the Aussie indie scene in 2013 after taking out the Triple J unearthed competition and performing at the One Night Stand held in their home town of Dubbo with acts such as Flume, The Rubens, Ballpark Music and Seth Sentry in front of a crowd of 18,000 people and broadcast live on national television. This success has allowed the boys to support Aussie music legends such as British India, The Choirboys and Eskimo Joe and record and release their second, three track EP ‘Lions’
The boys have proclaimed the band’s music as “Indie Pop Rock” in comparison to the ‘hard rock’ style of many local bands. Peoples Palaces music has been called “melodic” with the boys endlessly examining their feelings as inspiration towards creating tracks that can resonate with fans.

Dubbo 4-piece Peoples Palace are the winners of our One Night Stand competition and will be opening for Seth Sentry, Ball Park Music, The Rubens and Flume at triple j's One Night Stand at the Dubbo showground this Saturday 13 April.
Tell us about your music - how did you develop your sound?
We developed our sound very rawly in our garage - no synths, no fill-ins, just guitars, bass and drums. Just the basics and catchy hooky lyrics. We would describe our music to be pop/rock but a little bit different to the usual sound. What you see on the EP is what you see in one of our live shows - ALWAYS trying to keep the beat up and poppy to keep everyone upbeat and full of energy.
You’re the winners of our One Night Stand competition and will be opening for Seth Sentry, Ball Park Music, The Rubens and Flume in your home town of Dubbo, NSW. What can One Night Stand attendees expect from the Peoples Palace live show?
What will you expect from us? Probably just a few young men with wet pants when it comes to the crunch! Haha nooo. We would say a very energetic catchy 30 minutes of rocky pop. Just something you can jump around and get into. We get pretty good responses from live crowds so the more you give us the more we give back.
What’s it like being a band in Dubbo?
Local support is amazing. It is a bit difficult to get some cool acts to Dubbo though because it's a bit out of the way from metro areas, but One Night Stand has definitely opened doors and eyes for Dubbo's music scene. We have noticed that in the last few months it has grown a fair bit and definitely can see a better future for local and regional music. We are honoured to be a part of the One Night Stand - it's a dream!
What’s your favourite memory of seeing live Australian music?
Too many to count! We have seen alot of amazing underground acts blow crowds away just from supporting and playing along side of other bands, but I think the one live performance that tops it off would have to be Silverchair at Groovin The Moo in Canberra - they have always been a personal favourite.
What’s coming up for you in 2013?
2013, we are in the midst of pretty much giving this year a go for the band. We will be gigging alot and trying to do alot of things. We are going on our own tour in July which will be cool. It's starting in Melbourne and going all the way up to Byron Bay, so that's exciting. We're also planning on shooting our new filmclip and just putting all our soul into writing and hopefully producing an album by the end of this year. We are still open to anything and are dedicated to do what ever we can do to push our sound out to everybody.
Australian music is…?
...GOOD TIMES!!!! Australian music is something in itself. We've realised that so much effort and dedication goes into live performances and music in Australia. Performers and artists in Australia are always pretty eager to please a crowd and put on a show, Australian festivals and upbeat music has been a massive promoter of just having a good time all in the name of music.View Profile Hide Interview
