Pete and the Tar Gang have been telling their musical tales of adventure, nefarious characters and rum soaked seafaring intrigue for nigh on the last year 200 years… Pete is a musical storyteller, a captain sailing his ship upon an endless sea of imagination, adventure and iniquity. His band, The Tar Gang, must play accompaniment to this crazed Ahab of song, or face being thrown overboard and into a sea of wild dreams. Live they are a show of music delivered with strong theatricality. There musical tales are woven into songs as diverse in style as the stories themselves, ranging from sodden sea shanties, to raucous Dada-esque absurdism, to haunting ghost story waltzes, junkyard hoe downs and gritty colonial style cabaret. The songs and characters are sung and performed by Pete and accompanied musically by his gruff and impish ‘gang’. With the stompingly diabolical Pete on vocals and guitar, he is joined by the Tar Gang in the form of Renato Vacirca on guitar, Jeanie Macarthur Brown ...
