Bio

'Phoebe Day has something special'
- Australianjazz.net

Rising R&B/Neo Soul songstress Phoebe Day, captivates listeners with an alluring vocal tone, emotive lyrics and dreamy soundscapes. Her voice bounces between a velvety lower register and a delicate, breathy falsetto. Day exudes speakeasy, golden-era charm whilst creating a sound that is fresh. Her music flirts with electronic production whilst keeping firm roots in acoustic instrumentation. Imagine hushed percussion, soulful and jazz-styled vocals, shimmering piano melodies and lush string arrangements.

Described as 'effortlessly cool, unapologetically feminine' and 'reminiscent of Sade and Erykah Badu with a nod to fashion icon Audrey Hepburn' (Onya Magazine, AU), one can begin to understand why she's turning heads.

After delivering sold-out performances in some of Australia's most established and underground jazz clubs, Phoebe Day was invited to make her debut at the 2019 Melbourne International Jazz Festival and Melbourne International Saxophone Festival. Both festivals featured an impressive lineup of artists including Herbie Hancock and Ambrose Akinmusire.

You're at a high end bar ordering high end scotch surrounded by high end people. Phoebe's playing this song live in the corner-room stage. The scotch tastes better, the conversation is smooth. This is the sort of record that you enjoy but more than that, it makes you enjoy everything else around it. Egyptian silk, this.
