Piñata began its life in Adelaide, Australia in 2001. Original member, Phillip (Bass, Backing Vocals), joined shortly by Tashii (Vocals, Guitar), grew together through the usual trend of line-up changes and then found that they were capable of flourishing when joined by Linden (drums) in August 2004. Bring vital ingredients to a modern day rock-pop band: energy; sweet yet mischievous; dark rhythm; bass drive- all combined are the essence that conveys licorice pop/rock piñata. In 2001 and 2002 piñata discovered that they were heading in the right direction when competing in RifFind Music Live and Triple J’s Unearthed contests.
