PINES is an electronic duo consisting of Adam Dormand and James Kenneally. Hailing from Adelaide, Australia PINES first entered the music scene in 2015 following a well-received remix of KLP’s track “Medicine”.
The release of Fate in November 2015 generated significant interest from labels and blogs resulting in a collective play count of 500,000+ plays across Spotify, SoundCloud, iTunes & YouTube. Later that month they debuted their live show, supporting Icelandic electronic masters Kiasmos at Jive.
They’ve since gone on to support one of the biggest break out electronic acts of 2016, Jai Wolf (USA). In addition, PINES have supported Australian dance music veterans The Aston Shuffle at Fat Controller’s opening weekend, Touch Sensitive, Nina Las Vegas, and PACES.
Off the back of ‘Fate’s’ success, PINES were honoured to be asked by Urthboy (The Herd / Elefant Traks) to remix his single ‘Long Loud Hours’ featuring Bertie Blackman.
In June 2016, PINES released ‘Calling You’, reaching number 1 on the Hype Machine chart. In August 2016 they were nominated for a South Australian Music Award in the category of ‘most popular electronic artist’ and in March 2017 travelled to the USA to play at SXSW in Austin, Texas.
March 2017 saw PINES release ‘Tell Me (feat Water Park) again topping the Hype Machine chart and the first track working together in the studio with a vocalist. This track passed 2 million Spotify plays in November 2017.
With interest from industry heavyweights, including Big Beat Records (Skrillex, David Guetta, Martin Solveig) PINES was asked to remix Grouplove’s most recent single, Good Morning; this was released via Atlantic Records in May 2017. With plenty of buzz in the industry and a steadily growing fan base, PINES travelled to Germany for studio songwriting sessions in Berlin during September, followed by a live performance at Reeperbahn festival in Hamburg.
'This Life', the latest single was released on November 20, 2017 and peaked at No. 2 on the Hype Machine chart.
PINES’ versatile style and sound is influenced by electronic, hip- hop and indie music, blending organic and synthesised sounds with big beats. While touring and performing live PINES plays live renditions of studio material sequences, triggering samples, percussion and effects.
