If the muscular new single I'll Get Back to You, Barry doesn't make it immediately obvious, Plovers spent 2019 getting angry. They were angry at their jobs, and they were angry with themselves, but most of all they were angry at the people who seemed content to ignore the world changing around them instead of engaging honestly with different points of view. People they couldn't seem to escape. People that were elected to do better.
Remember those 90s Yogo ads where a business-clad gecko is so focused on shouting down the phone at a guy called Barry that he's completely oblivious to the chaos of the world around him - at least until his shiny red sports car is violently destroyed in front of his eyes?
The same thing is happening right now. Let's just hope all we lose is a fancy car before things change.
Plovers is Jared Chappell, Margy Noble, and Dan New. After 2018 single Not Australian was added to rotation on Double J, Triple J Unearthed Radio, and a variety of community stations, they spent 2019 writing and recording new songs in between playing shows with acts like Gang of Four (UK), Shihad (NZ), Screaming Females (US), Pagan, Bare Bones, and Private Function.
More to come - soon.
