Bio

Following a six-date tour through Japan earlier this year, Polarize return with a new offering titled ‘Friends Again’. Independently released and written and recorded in Melbourne's north, the single strikes a balance between indie rock and new wave heady-pop, as it narrates the honest and familiar tale of a friendship that deteriorates over time.

Mixed by Colin Leadbetter (Leah Senior, Whitley, Girlatones) and mastered by Mikey Young (Total Control, Eddy Current Suppression Ring), ‘Friends Again’ showcases the band’s knack for emotive and expansive alt-rock. Taking on a palette of influences, from the British post-punk sounds of The Clash and New Order through to more modern takes from MGMT and The Strokes.

Polarize's debut single ‘Do What You Want’, released in July 2018, received praise from Richard Kingsmill at triple j and extensive community airplay across the country. Since then the band has released a handful of singles, including December release 'Meet Me In The Middle', and have built up a hefty live following. Playing extensively throughout Melbourne’s live music scene, with shows at The Tote, The Grace, The Espy, Workers Club and Yah Yahs, before embarking on a club tour through Japan, which took them to Kobe, Osaka, Kyoto and finally three sweaty shows in Tokyo.

Slinky, synthy, laconic good times.

bitta Pond, bitta Arctic Monkeys, but still completely Polarize. I've never thought of indie-rock as lush before, but that's exactly how I'd describe this track.

it's woozy, chilled, suave indie with just a drop of recent arctic monkeys in the mix.
