New single "LIVE FOR TONIGHT" Out Now!!! Melbourne band, Polo Club are described as “...one of the most exciting, and inventive groups on the scene.” The release of their debut album “The 13” (mastered in L.A by Dave Cooley of Stones Throw Records) in 2009, saw original members Dyl Thomas and Cam Chapman crafting a slamming slab of indefinable Hip Hop Club bangers. Shortly after release Polo Club toured the album nationally. ‘The 13’ received album of the week on Triple R and numerous plays on Triple j. Polo Club has now been expanded to a 4 piece outfit consisting of Adam Fitzgerald and Aidan McLaren. Now as a band the four of them can showcase live the unique flavours they all add to the writing process. Polo Club have graced the stage at some of Australia’s most popular music festivals like Parklife , Good Vibrations, The Hills Are Alive and The Push Over. 2011 saw Polo Club release a full length FREE album/mixtape called “Don’t Believe The Hyper Colour”. With 20 original remixes of famous artists like Lil Wayne, Cee-lo, Phoenix and Goldfrapp, “Don’t believe The Hyper Colour” quickly became a sort-after download on blogs all over the globe. In their own words, Polo Club have come a long way since their debut, honing their skills and adding 2 new members to the live lineup which has the whole of Melbourne city talking about their engaging live show. Last year the guys drop the blog praised EP 'SHE WILL NEVER KNOW' that came with it a string of highly stylised film clips for the tracks 'See You Again' and the title track 'She Will Never Know'. Following the success of the EP and a sold out Melbourne show POLO CLUB hit the road for their first headline national tour up the east coast. Now in 2013, POLO CLUB are back with a bangin' new EP 'LIVE FOR TONIGHT' and are counting down the days until they can officially unleash the title track of the same name on Friday 7 July. Watch out for the full EP going up around the globe on Monday 1st July. facebook.com/poloclub
Urban Monk and Camelot the Cameleon work on a fresh approach to Hip-hop/Beat Making/Ideas/Flows.
Tell us about your music, how did your sound develop?
CAM> We both originally come from different areas of Music styles, Urban Monk more Funk, Hiphop & soul and Cam more electronica , rock and a bit of pop but we both listen to a wide selection of music. So when we came together and started writing, we both had a lot of styles to draw influences from. I had always worked on Hiphop tracks but never really had them cracking till Urban open my eyes to the underground shuffling weird hiphop production he was listening too and creating. So then it became a challenge too push each other to in Urban’s case writing new flows or take a song lyrically down a path he’d never tried before and in my case try and create a new sounds or rhythms or feel for a track that would take us both by surprise.
Tell us about your live show - what can the Parklife audience expect?
CAM> The Parklife audience will expect a lot of good vibes on stage, Urban Monk is just at home when he gets on stage, he just loves it, as for myself, any chance I have of dropping my beats for friends/punters/music loves is bliss, I have the attitude of “how about this beat….?...ok not a fan…oh ya got to like this one!” and keep picking away until you find your favourite Polo Club Track.
Who are you most looking forward to at this year's Parklife?
CAM> Got to see Dizzie! That dude is on Fire! URBAN> yeah Dizzie.... cant wat to see him been waiting for ages...
What's planned for the future?
CAM> Main aim is to release the Album we have been working on for a long time and plays as many Gigs as possible and keep the momentum going that is building for Polo Club. URBAN MONK> Yeah and also get this clip done.. just one step at a time, got the single launch coming up soon so trying to make that huge and get everyone along to that.
