Originally intended to be straight forward rock project, Project R’s sound quickly evolved into one difficult to classify… With four members of wide ranging musical backgrounds and influences, the band brings forward a unique style best described as heavy rock. The idea of starting the band originally came about on a night out in the city, with Nick, Martin and a few mates. While one of their mates (who shall remain nameless) was busy in the toilet throwing his guts up, Martin suggested to Nick that they start a band together. At this point, Nick had just left his old band and Martin hadn’t been in one before. A few weeks later Alan was called and said he’d join on bass, so without a drummer the three began writing, rehearsing and recording a growing list of songs. After hearing a small sample of the recordings, one of Martin’s work friends (Andrew) instantly wanted in on drums, so they put him on and the lineup was complete.
