Bio

With their members’ backgrounds in jazz, blues, pop, and metal, Melbourne garage outfit Psychobabel unleash a doom-tinged blend of psychedelic pop that will earn the admiration of fans of Arctic Monkeys, Billie Eilish and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard alike.

Crafted as a conceptually exaggerated extension of vocalist Leah Romero’s life experiences and world views, Psychobabel spin tales of an alternate universe filled with reflection and emotional dysfunction, building a longform abstract sonic experience with each release.

With a quickly growing fanbase that saw them sell out their single launch at Northcote Social Club for previous single ‘Patience’ in 2019, Psychobabel have since shared the stage with international heavyweights Frank Carter & the Rattlesnakes and Earthless, as well as Australian favourites Psychedelic Porn Crumpets (including a sold out Corner Hotel show), The Pretty Littles, Clowns, and The Southern River Band. Prior to COVID-19 shaking up the live music scene, Psychobabel were also announced to support Eagles of Deathmetal on their 2020 Australian tour.

The group’s latest release, ‘Chaotic Neutral’ touches on their character’s fear and her inability to feel. It comes as a welcome reprieve from 2020, and brings the promise of more new music to come throughout 2021.

Visceral rock and roll that swirls like the smoke in a miscreant bar before a good round of fisticuffs.

it's thick and muscular stuff that has got me dizzy in darkness fumbling for the light switch.

Imagine the menace of WAAX and Yeah Yeah Yeahs rolled through the swampy muck of some doom-y influences and you've got this new Psychobabel banger.
