Meet Purple Drapes: the tongue-in-cheek pop project built on shades of indigo, 90s culture and damn groovy grooves. If there was any year to shake off old habits and try something new, it was 2020. Purple Drapes knows this well. The singer-songwriter-multi-instrumentalist was living on Sydney’s Northern Beaches when hit with the brunt of a global pandemic. As joint levels of boredom and day-to-day uncertainty set in, he found himself motivated more so than ever to create music that is light-hearted, fun and doesn’t take itself too seriously. At the core of Purple Drapes is a deep appreciation of pop music: “I thought it was the perfect time to venture into the genre of songs that I felt truly inspired by - Pop.” Here, Drapes’ influences run far and wide, from Justin Timberlake to Outkast and Fergie. “This project is heavily influenced by artists of the late 90s and early 2000s, steering deeply into the realm of hip/hop style beats, always accompanied by sweet catchy melodies - hip/pop"
