To recognise National Reconciliation Week 2019, we teamed up two of our favourite new Indigenous Australian artists from triplejunearthed.com to collaborate on a track.

We gave Brissie producer HVWKS and Noongar rapper Dallas Woods less than a week to come up with something special, with the results premiered on triple j Drive with Veronica and Lewis.

They’ve arrived with ‘Chains’, a heater that really shows off what each artist does best (HVWKS as a beatmaker and vocal manipulator, and Dallas’ incisive, insightful raps). We reckon the track might even have gone a little beyond that, eclipsing the considerable sum of its parts.

“We worked all night last night, right up to the last minute,” Dallas told us. “But it was worth it. We both just trusted each other and I’m excited with how it’s come out.”

“Dallas sent me the vocals, and then I reshaped the vocals to fit the song,” HVWKS explained. “The way it worked was insane. It was really good. Dallas was so easy to work with.”

Very cool collaboration - it's so wild that this was made in under a week, can you teach me how to be this productive? lol

The production has heart and urgency all at once, Dallas' rhymes hold it down confidently, beautiful work and killer job.
