Red Zora have been together in one form or another since 2007. Founder Helena, originally from Germany, has made Australia her home and has found co-guitarist Sarah (Joe Meares/Cuban Heels), drummer Rohan (Key Out, Sounds Like Sunset, Beautiful World) and bass player Ness (The Veil) to consolidate the current lineup. In January 2016, Red Zora released their first full-length album Lovers & Addicts. The album, recorded with legendary Australian producer Tim Powles (The Church), combines 90s alternative guitar sounds with Dark Country and Shoegaze elements and draws on a number of influences – including The Cure, Joy Division, Underground Lovers, and PJ Harvey. Lyrically, Red Zora’s Lovers & Addicts is an homage to the dark romanticism of early 80s New Wave that ventures into the subconscious, often unspoken, complexity of human relations.
