Ren Stone is a newly developed solo project by infectious multi instrumentalist and founder of world music group Rhythm Hunters, Rendra Freestone. Ren Stone brings a fresh lyric based sound to folk and conscious roots music. Ren Stone’s project takes him back to his roots of singer/songwriter folk music, inspired by the movement of conscious roots and his background of traditional Indonesian music – largely the provinces of Aceh and West Sumatra, with thought provoking and emotive lyrics. Influenced by his time spent playing with Rhythm Hunters, Chaika, Nahko & MFTP, Nicky Bomba and on the same festival circuit as the likes of Trevor Hall, Dustin Thomas, Rising Appalachia, Kevin James etc; Ren Stone sets to inspire change with his audience and create music though his personal journeys, philosophies, travels and experiences.
