Artist:Roc West

Joel 'Roc West' Westlake was classically trained at the Sydney Conservatorium and Australian School of Music from a young age until 21yo. For the majority of his studies in this field, he majored in Double Bass performance, and toured with orchestras all over Europe and the States. After leaving his classical music studies behind, he taught himself the art of electronic and digital production. 10 years on, and Roc has produced countless songs and productions for other artists and programs, ranging from grass roots hip hop, to community arts, doco scoring, location sound recording and ethnomusicology. This work has seen him travel extensively around Australia and also twice to the Phillipines to work with and to document Indigenous Tribesmen, their instruments, culture and music....
