Ron The Ox is a five-piece rock band from Adelaide, South Australia.
With a sound that’ll take you right back to the Big Day out era of rock’n’roll (Kings Of Leon, QOTSA,The Stooges and Primal Scream), these lads’ll give you a fix of 2000’s indie rock nostalgia.
Song-writing cousins Tom and Lee Kennedy, along with good mate Anthony Carbone, founded the band.
The name was hatched in reference to their late grandfather Ron. Dubbed by those closest to him as ‘The Ox’, he was a real-life gentleman who possessed a gripping handshake and cheeky wit.
While writing songs and jamming in sheds in 2015, the lads eventually rounded up local mates Connor Jolly (Chinese New Year) and Callum Neilsen (Bermuda Bay) to form Ron The Ox.
In 2019, they came in at #42 in the “Heaps Good 50” countdown by local radio station play/pause/play and have previously played local supports for The Belligerents, Good Boy, Bad Pony and Tiny Little Houses.
Exploring themes of suburban nostalgia, and touching on the importance of mental health and the understanding of emotional fragility, The Ox are a bunch of good-hearted fellas with some chunky riffs.
Outside of a global pandemic, you can usually spot them at The Grace Emily, The Cranker or The Exeter in Adelaide.
