Mild-mannered, tea drinkers by day and filthy swamp creatures by night. Call the censors and the fashion police and take a step inside the awkward world of Alternative-Rock Ratbags ROO.

Dean Hamilton Is the animated, groovy, lovable nerd and Roo is the charming, big-mouthed queen of mean. Together they are Alternative, Swampy, Rock duo ROO.

“ROO is a duo blending soulful vocals with rock and blues, then muddying that up swamp water.” – Soundwaves Review
“Roo’s guitar work is outstanding as she performs a vocal quintathlon of styles and range.” – 4ZZZ
“Roo’s vocals feel like Janis Joplin one moment and Cherie Currie the next… Low and moody soul to a metal shriek that defies belief.” – Ellie D Official

Launching their live show in 2016, ROO delivers a soulful passion that is borderline violent and softer moments that are vulnerable and honest. ROO blends grungy guitar, commanding vocals, angelic harmonies and groovy, jazz-influenced drums. This raucous duo draws influences from blues, swamp, grunge, alternative-rock, punk and pop. ROO’s socially awkward and embarrassingly honest approach to audience interaction will leave you laughing in disbelief. ROO encourage their audience to join in with swears, dress up in their worst ‘fashion police’ outfits and have a good time. ROO have supported the likes of King social, FrAgile (Japan) and Leanne Tennant.

“ROO is a two piece to be reckoned with… Go see them play as soon as you can.” - 4ZZZ
“Blues-Rock darlings ROO put on one hell of a show.” – Vincent & Jules
“ROO create a raw live sound as big as a band. Their emotionally charged performances come with assorted outfits and intentionally awkward banter – all ingredients for a great night of entertainment.” – Music Is My Muse

With what appears to be blatant disregard for the rules of music, ROO are continually unafraid to flip the script and forge their own path with an exciting and refreshing approach to music and entertainment. With two DIY albums and two live EPs under their belt, ROO has recently joined forces with Hungry Spaniel Records for their latest offering, the experimental-pop EP Bansidhe. ROO have received radio play of their releases in Australia, China, US, UK and Canada.

“This band has a very unique sound… A great Australian band, this.” – The Spread
“I don’t know what you wanna call them, but they are absolutely fantastic.” – The Tripwire
“Definitely one of the best voices I’ve heard in a long time… Strongly recommend giving it a listen.” - Emerge

ROO’s motto: Fun. Love. Honesty. Filth.

“Roo has such a pretty voice when she’s not swearing and yelling”. – Roo’s Ma.
