Born in South Africa in 1980, Ryan ‘Ryanstein’ Steinbeck moved to Sydney in '89. Always leaning towards the ‘rebellious’ styles of music, Ryanstein converted from punk such as Dead Kennedy’s, NOFX, Pennywise etc to Hip Hop through the emergence of artists such as the Beastie Boys, Ice-T &, Rage Against The Machine, who successfully merged the 2 worlds on frequent occasions. Ryanstein has been a devoted Hip Hopper ever since, finding that he particularly had a heartfelt attachment to the lyrics & emotions involved, hence his upbringing and heavy influences from the likes of KRS-1, A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Lost Boyz, Wu Tang, Jedi Mind Tricks, Planet Asia etc. He’s become increasingly impressed with Aussie Hip Hop acts, listening to artists such as Drapht, Illy, Blissneso, Pegz etc. Ryanstein started rapping in '96, messing round with mates over instrumentals & tape recorders, using headphones for mic’s.
