Bio
✝Saint Lane:
From the streets of Auckland to across the ditch to Australia, Saint Lane’s life on earth has been anything but a blessing. Born to Fijian and French parents, Lane was raised in and out of cheap motels and homelessness. A life that would begin his manifestation of his own reality - but it wouldn’t be easy.
Assessing the works of Kanye West, Donald Glover, Basquiat, Christopher Nolan and other renaissance figures, as a teenager Lane used art to drift his consciousness away from his troubled surroundings. Lane would construct his own interpretations of these innovators - becoming the blueprint for his own originality.

Tell us about your music. How did you develop your sound?
I think when I first started out as a young dude I was making music I thought other people would like and not what I liked. I was trying to keep up with my contemporaries rather than make music that I would listen to. My sound developed really from just listening to my own gut feeling and running with ideas that might sound silly or far fetched in theory and trying to find the halfway point between drunken insanity and beauty.
What’s your greatest source of inspiration for making music?
Life I guess. My music is very autobiographical. Certain chords or sounds remind me of things that have happened in the past or things that are currently happening
What can punters expect from a Saint Lane live show?
It's intimate. There's a lot of stories between songs and a lot of interaction between me and the folks there. It's just me and an MPC on stage too. No DJ. No band. Just me and you. Hopefully more than just me and you actually I'm sure you the reader is a great audience member and great person however i would like to sell more than one ticket
What’s the best advice you’ve been given and who was it from?
John Mayer's Instagram is littered with wisdom. The man is a complete stranger but through religiously following him I think that's where I get a lot of style influence from both fashion and music. The best advice that comes to mind is "visvim is a capsule brand" and that's true, visvim always looks so sharp and casual at the same time. I have never had enough money to own visvim clothes or shoes but someday I might sell out a tour and buy myself a visvim outfit and thank John for all he's done for me.
What Australian track would you play to cheer up someone who was crying?
Don't Let The Kids Win by Julia Jacklin. You ever peak cried? That's where you're crying so much you look at yourself in the mirror just to see the insane amount of tears and redness on your face? I think if you're crying already then that Julia track will take you to the peak but the good thing about hitting that crying wall is that it's therapy. Nothing feels better than getting all of it out of your system and I think everybody needs to get that build up emotions out.
What Australian track would you play to someone to make them cry?
'Eventuall'y by Tame Impala makes me cry because I know I will never make a song that dope. Monday by Matt Corby is such a sobering song, I reckon it could drain a few tears out.
You’re the DJ at a party. The dance floor is pumping. What Australian track do you put on next?
Either that Courtney Barnett song that goes, 'I wanna go out, but I wanna stay home'...what a smashing hook or anything by Fisher to play it safer.
What was the last local gig you went to? How was it?
Psychedelic Porn Crumpets. They're amazing, I loved it.
Tell us about the bands or people in the Gold Coast music community that inspire you.
Amy Shark has proven a local Goldie can be a worldwide Superstar. Fisher has proven you can break the market by being an unfiltered version of yourself. Aquila Young is a good friend. I love seeing her win.
What are your plans for 2019?
I would love to play an Australian festival. I just got back from Ultra Korea and had the time of my life. I just got booked for a national tour in September supporting a group that I really love. I have a few tracks in my Dropbox waiting to be sent out as well.

Saint Lane's got too much style I can handle. Seriously! You do it with so much ease and I love the contrast between the guitar and the omph in that bass/trap beat at moments.

More of Saint Lane at his laidback best. The vibe do be mellow but the bars carry weight!
