Bio
Skirting on the fringes of electronic dance music, Sydney-based producer/DJ SangLien takes influence in everything; from hip hop to garage, jungle to funk, all wrapped together in a psychedelic bow that is unmistakably his. Charismatic beats and a parallel onstage presence earned him dozens of bookings in 2019, including multiple festival slots and opening duties for drum and bass heavyweights including Chase & Status, Dimension, Technimatic, Whiney, Keeno, Matrix & Futrebound, Ekko & Sidetrack, and Royalston.
His 2017 debut EP ‘Digital Eskimo’ was played regularly on FBi Radio and Triple J unearthed, while its lead single ‘Somday’ was selected as the opening theme for ‘Hear Me Out,’ a political documentary series on the ABC. In 2018 SangLien released ‘A Little Darkness’, his first of two collaborations with Paris-based singer Pace Randolph. With its abstract rhythms and tinges of funk, the single was well received by local radio. It’s 2019 follow-up, ‘Stars’, placed jungle breaks at the forefront while still retaining SangLien’s signature sound, and marked the beginning of a solid presence within the drum and bass scene.
SangLien shows no signs of slowing down in 2020, with further collaborations, another single and an EP set to be released by the end of the year.
