Sawmill is Sydney-based solo artist and multi-instrumentalist Nick McMillan's DIY recording project. Having begun his music career as a drummer in a number of sonically-diverse Brisbane bands, McMillan found himself experimenting with lo-fi recording and mixing techniques in the summer of 2019/2020. This experimentation would go on to form the foundations of Sawmill's first LP, "Back to the Old House," released independently on November 1st, 2020. A texturally rich blend of introspective, dreamy, and visually evocative, Sawmill blurs the lines between alternative rock, jangle and folk. In writing, performing, recording, and mixing everything on the album, McMillan creates a world that is entirely his own.
