About

The son of a jazz guitarist, Scapegoat Mercy's musical acumen was indulged from an early age, but it wasn't until he cracked an early version of FL Studio that he dove into a world of sombre electronics which mirrored the Hitchcock movies he was binge watching. These days he spends his time holed up in a monastic apartment in Melbourne, feeding off anime that's more Kawajiri than Miyazaki and fashioning sonics that align with his favourite horror neo-noir visuals. His music is layered with tension and expanding, anxious synths or as he describes it – "definitely not hand-holding music". His drum patterns are seeded in the darker channels of hip-hop; he has an unnerving obsession with Timbaland beats and can rap every Luda, Busta, or Missy verse perfectly, but his own beats are more stuff that will make you nod your head and cry into your lean. His debut EP, Catharsis, is slanted for a May release, but keep it locked for upcoming singles. MMXLV. enquiries: scapegoatmercy@gmail.com.
