Bio

Slinking out from the inky shadows of the Adelaidean night, synth-pop trio SKIES dish up their glitchy, sanguine new single ‘Speed Boy’, produced by Steven Schram (San Cisco, The Cat Empire, Paul Kelly).

Following the critical success of SKIES’s self-produced releases ‘Call for My Heart’ and ‘Too Young’, ‘Speed Boy’ wants things to get personal. There's no shyness here. Just a quiet, serpentine confidence. Just restless drums, punchy synths and magnetic vocals. Just a come-hither glance across the dance floor that'd made the Pope blush.

SKIES had a lucrative 2015 that saw them supporting the likes of SAFIA, Peking Duk, Tkay Maidza, Meg Mac, The Kite String Tangle and more, along with taking out 'best new artist' at the South Australian Music Awards - and the SA natives are keeping the pedal firmly to the metal with plans to tour the UK later this year. ‘Speed Boy’ is a tantalising amuse bouche for what’s to come - and it looks as though SKIES aren't gonna stop moving at their own speed anytime soon, boy.

SKIES are...
Dusty Lee: Vocals / Guitar
Micah Cearns: Production / Keys
Michael Zabolocki: Production / Bass / Keys

Wordplay unintended but gosh this one just reaches up to the skies, doesn't it? Well made, as usual, from this band.

Such a perfect blend of soulful heartache and total sass on this one. I get hints of what SAFIA are doing here (and that's a compliment), once again you guys are making some sweet sweet music.

Nice vocal! And damn, those chord professions are so great and moody. Nice to hear - not often you get ones that interesting in tracks these days.
