South West Syndicate aka SWS is a hip-hop collective from South West Sydney. The SWS roots, originating from the 1985 breakdance and graffiti crew “Black Connection”. The groups founding members Munkimuk, Big Naz and Dax officially named the crew South West Syndicate in 1992. SWS mainstay Brothablack joined in 1993. The group performed 100’s of shows all over Australia and gained national radio airplay and TV appearances in the 1990s, and early 2000’s. In 2003, South West Syndicate won a coveted Deadly Award at the Sydney Opera House. Fast forward to 2019, when the South West Syndicate crew reformed and released their debut single “Back Like A Boomerang” with a renewed energy and a sound reminiscent of old school hip-hop greats of the 80’s Run DMC and Beastie Boys.
