Bio

Squaring Circles began with musician and producer Brendan Anderson in 2016. Uninspired by conventional song writing, he started to explore more abstract processes. Anderson’s song writing process entailed experimenting with both acoustic and electronic instruments, letting go of conscious control and allowing sound to express itself until songs formed. The sessions took place over 18 months in remote makeshift studios across Australia.

Vocalists Lilibeth Hall and Hayden Somerville worked alongside Brendan (former band mates in indie rock act Lurch and Chief) to conjure the voice of the tracks. The project finally welcomed electronic musician Julien Huynh to co-produce the music.

i don't reckon an infinite amount of monkeys playing around on an infinite amount of garage bands could ever replicate this wonderful noise.

This is stunning. Elements of electronic music, jazz, psych and ambient coming together in one swirling, mist filled hut. One of my favourite Unearthed discoveries of 2018.

It's heavy, warped and noisy. I'm all for it...in every way possible. This is magnificent.
