Bio

St Joan’s refreshing and honest lyrics force a long awaited breath as their raw passionate vocals dig deep towards your heart and soul. St Joan crafts music that navigates the contours of the listener’s heart, their pains, trials and joys.

Based in Sydney the band (Daniel Tomalaris, Alasdair Belling and Chris Paine) began writing together in 2014 forming their unique sound as they performed throughout their cities venues and bars. It wasn’t until April 2017 that the trio united under a common name ‘St Joan’ in order to flag a new season of their career and a new colour to their music.

We want to give an anthem to life’s shades and colours. We want to put melody and word to indescribable loss and unimaginable joy…

Very poppy when those 'hey, hey, hey' shouts come in - which sort of makes it the turning point to how I feel about the track compared to how I did at the start - which is interesting. But surrounding that are luscious and clean sounding vocals that are very satisfying to hear.

Drums begin.. and I think alright this sounds a little like City Calm Down... guitar starts... nope definitely more of a Holy Holy feel.. and then Daniel you start singing, it throws me off completely and I come to the conclusion that you guys are in a league of your own. Different vibe to what you've done before and I love that you're experimenting with the bands dynamic! Rock really...

Really lovely jungle pop vibe going on here, kind of a melting pot of The Griswolds and Fox & Fowl. I'm all for it.
