Bio

Staples are a Brisbane-based alternative rock band, formed in late 2019 by high-school mates Harry, Jason and John, together with multi-instrumentalist Zaac, who Harry met while studying music at QUT.

With Jason, John and Zaac all learning their respective instruments specifically for the project, Staples rehearsed, demoed and refined their original material for almost a year, and throughout the COVID-19 lockdown, to polish a setlist and live show worthy of the Brisbane music scene.

After the pandemic restrictions eased, Harry’s brother Edward joined the band as keyboard and synth player, adding an ethereal extra dimension to the Staples sound.

Drawing influences from post-punk and Britpop, Staples present their unique sound through a modern indie lens, combining passionate vocals with soaring guitar leads and jangly chords, and ambient synths with driving basslines and punchy drums.

With the recent release of their debut EP 'Another Melodramatic Mess', following the singles 'Sulking (On a Sunny Day)' and 'Serotonin', Staples have established themselves as an up-and-coming band to look out for in the coming months, with big plans for the future.

Love that jangle wash! Its ethereal but really dynamic and that rhythm propels this track along so well. Really enjoying this, thanks Staples!
