A trio of loud, energetic, punk-infused noise, Stone Witches hail from the Gold Coast. With influences ranging from John Dwyer, Ty Segall, Jay Reatard, Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Can and Parquet Courts, Stone Witches explore a wide variety of sounds and sonic experimentation.
Opting for DIY recording, the lo-fi sound adds texture to recording as well as allowing a fast turnaround of albums and EP’s. Having supported touring acts such as The Murlocs, The Gooch Palms, Drunk Mums, These New South Whales, The Jim Mitchells & Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, Stone Witches are a fan-favourite amongst their home crowd on the GC.
2018 sees the third full length LP from Stone Witches. Machine Efficient marks a sonic departure from previous LP "Feeder". An exploration into a cold, jagged, machine like sound, Machine Efficient delves into man's obsession with machine; a focused, tight and thematic combination of an assembly-line rhythm section held in the pocket by drums and bass, with searing guitars that scream over the top.
Recorded at home by ourselves as always, on a Tascam PortaTwo. Engineered by Mikel.
"A cosmic onslaught of psychedelic proportions. No banter, no bullshit. Just in-ya-face crazy good pysch rock, charging through the tracks like a psychotic yet controlled locomotive." -AAA Backstage
"It is clear that Stone Witches are coming strong to make a dent in their country, looking face to face with the psychedelia of Tame and the grown up King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard." - Binaural
