Bio

Recording artist, Strictly DT, born in Seattle, Washington later moving to Perth, Australia in 2005. Strictly DT started writing poems and songs at the age of 10 and became a recording artist at the early age of 17. Confident in his message, DT has been performing for over 10 years to his peers and community. Him with his trusted DJ, DJ Tek, have been blessed to support and share the stage with legendary artists like Mos Def, Common, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Tech N9ne, Downsyde, GZA, Briggs, Hau, Oddisee and many more.

Branching out, he began hosting events, spoken word poetry, performing at B-Boy shows and many more. DT has become a fully independent recording and performing artist. This journey has allowed DT to further his learning through experience and managing himself while gaining a deep understanding of every single facet of an independent artist. Within this year, DT took 1st place in the renowned “International Songwriters Competition of 2017”. This competition included judges such as Lorde and Ziggy Marley, competing against 16,000 other contestants in over 140 countries,. DT’s “Love Not Lust” won in the Hip Hop/R&B category.

The release of DT's new mixtape "Leave A Message" was the beginning of a new inspired style of writing and performing. Focusing on self reflection and leaving a message in each song in such a way that is still current in the way we listen to music today. Multiple songs from this project have been played on Triple J and Triple J Unearthed. The song “Freeze” was featured on the AFROPUNK website. AFROPUNK, the American community, being the voice for the unheard, has proven to be the perfect platform for this song. This has lead him into his next project with Sydney based producer, Ralph Radical.

"I'm a student to the Culture. I express myself through poetry, music, and performing arts. Aiming for the soul and not the radio."

Supporting the Hip Hop community to the fullest, contributing his energies to make a better scene and uplifting spirits through music, that is Strictly DT.

Wow, that production is something else. However you do it - it's seriously clever. The groove, backing female vocals and the horns... add that to your flow and you've got a tasty piece of work.

this is a homemade jam that tastes so good, smooth with a fruity kick. i'm ringing nan to hassle her about starting on the next batch.

Big fan of this, stripped back, subtle on the production, got this sitting in a real nice space
