Artist:The Sunbirds

The Sunbirds were founded by Jamie (guitar/vox), who wrote and recorded a humble corpus of 90s revivalist tunes in the middle of 2010 as activities with his previous bands began to lull. After some casual circulation amongst friends, these demos attracted enough interest to pull a real band together in 2011. That year saw a number of lineup arrangements, as the band found its feet playing shows around the majority of Adelaide's music venues. The first EP, titled Emergency Christmas, was recorded over a weekend at the beach in March 2012. Prior to the EP's official release, its opening track "I Shook" attracted positive reviews and just under 1000 plays on Triple J Unearthed, and received plays on Unearthed digital radio. After its official launch, Emergency Christmas also quickly earned considerable airtime on local radio, peaking at #2 on the 3D Radio charts.
