Bio

Originally a trio that experimented against the grain of their cosy country surroundings, Sunnyside is now a six-piece collective of jamming journeymen (with some classically trained misfits scattered for good measure). They make music that excites more than simply your auditory senses. Music that you can feel, played with a feeling that you need to see.
Their method is mesmerizing and their creative process is uncontrollable. It's this spontaneity and mystery that makes each show so unique. They are just as captivating in a small bar as they are on larger stages, recently playing festivals such as Fuji Rock '19, NYE on the Hill, Something Unlimited & Mullumbimby Music Festival.
Their first full length 'Body Heat' on Marthouse Records gave the world an introduction to the manic melancholy that is Sunnyside. With another highly anticipated album around the corner, the young sextet can expect to be turning even more heads and pricking many more ears.
If you are looking for monotonous melodies and cheap hooks, please make sure to shut the door on your way out. For those that stay and are still searching, the six-piece prefer a funk injected psychedelic jazz voyage. The voyage is riddled with seamless instrumentation and innate improvisation. Taking you from the crooning corners of a dimly lit jazz lounge to the sweaty shoulders of the nightclub.
Listeners and dancers beware, all inhibitions must be set aside when venturing across to the Sunnyside.
