'Sunshine Ensemble play Psychedelic tinged pop/rock...but they don't understand what that means.' Sunshine Ensemble is an indie Jazz/Rock band from Brisbane, Australia. With the combination of guitar, bass, drums and vocal line up highlighted with flute, violin, clarinet, keys and vocal harmonies, Sunshine Ensemble create psychedelic music entrenched with atmospheric melodies and dance sensibilities. A review of their debut EP in Rave stated, “It’s always pleasing to hear an innovative indie band that hasn’t merged into the poppy empire found on Nova’s hit list...Headachey morning afters are made for bands like Sunshine Ensemble whose psychedelic vibes are founded on a Flaming Lips-style sound.” Having played with well known acts Jonathan Boulet, Guineafowl and Dave McCormack of Custard, the bar has certainly been set high for their second EP, currently in pre-production.
