Drawing equal influence from soul, roots and electronic music as much as he does from all forms of hip hop and spoken word, and a DIY punk ethos, Swaz Benjamin’s particular brand of music has taken time to manifest. Hailing from the humble isle of Tasmania - after some years rapping on street corners, in backyards, home studios and on stages from Tasmania to Tanzania - his debut album 'Souled Out Volume One: Daze Gone Bye' will be out at the start of March 2018.
Through a strong emphasis on phonetics, harmonies and the clarity of his wordplay, his fluid and poetic lyricism spans a catalogue that includes light hearted sentiments and inspiring odes to enjoying life, heavy hitting emotive and thought provoking pieces, and reflective and consoling messages.
He has supported international artists Akil (Jurassic 5), Buck 65 (Canada) and Lotek (UK) as well as Australian artists including Thundamentals, Maundz, Hau, Luka Lesson and Omar Musa.
