SweetCell was founded in 2019 by guitarist and producer Joel Keane. In the lead up to their debut album OUTER in 2020, SweetCell began a busy gigging schedule, performing in and around Melbourne as a 6 piece ensemble. On their first album, SweetCell drew upon a wide range of musical influences. At times the music delved into extended instrumental passages familiar to prog and new wave acts such as Television and Steven Wilson. Elsewhere, SweetCell tipped a hat to icons like David Bowie and REM, in an attempt to present music that was both bitter sweet, with a strong pop sensibility. SILHOUETTES is the first single from SweetCell's follow up effort to 2020’s Outer. Silhouettes again sees SweetCell pursuing their fondness for colourful alt rock guitar music, with more than a splash of the avant-garde.
